Yagi Shuzo is the only sake brewery in the city of Imabari. Established by the Yagi family in 1831, it carries on the sake making techniques of the Ochi brewers, a group of brewing masters from the Setouchi region. Their flagship brand, Yamatan Masamune, is a Ginjo sake made with groundwater from Mt. Ishizuchi, the highest peak in western Japan, and specially selected rice from Ehime. It is exported around the world and has won awards at dozens of competitions including the International Sake Challenge. You can take a tour of Yagi Shuzo’s facilities to learn about their sake brewing process and sample their different products.
